On 16 November 2021, this year's "Milestone Excellence in Tourism 2021" was awarded in the Kursaal Bern. The official Swiss Tourism Award has been honouring successfully implemented innovative projects for 22 years. The award ceremony was attended by around 450 industry representatives and Federal Councillor Alain Berset, who addressed a few words to the tourism industry. Gjon's Tears from Fribourg, finalists of the Eurovision Song Contest 2021, provided the atmosphere.

Out of a total of 79 project entries, "Parkn'Sleep" was nominated in advance in the main category and was ceremoniously awarded the 1st prize for the most innovative project of the year 2021 yesterday evening in the Kursaal Bern. The jury explained: The young company has cleverly solved a current problem with great growth potential. The guest benefits from legal, inspected spaces; the provider can direct the flow of visitors and receives fair compensation for the space. The app is easy to use and has spread quickly in the community.

Parkn'Sleep - a tourism concept

Due to a lack of offers, campers increasingly spend the night wildly or semi-legally, which understandably causes resentment among authorities and municipalities. As a result, camping bans have been imposed in many places. Parkn'Sleep has reacted to the growing demand and the problem in tourist regions and launched a clever solution at the beginning of June 2021. Parkn'Sleep displays official pitches with live availability. Each pitch is legal, verified and linked to local regulations and tariffs. Providers can enter their pitch offers in the system with a few clicks and generate an income. Campers can drive to the pitches spontaneously, check in and out digitally on site independently and spend a quiet and undisturbed night.

"We see the tense situation of motorhome tourism as an opportunity to bring pitch operators, campers and communities together with Parkn'Sleep," says Lukas Imhof, founder of Parkn'Sleep.

The Milestone is the Swiss Tourism Award and is endowed with a total of 35,500 Swiss francs. It is awarded by htr hotel revue and HotellerieSuisse and supported by the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO as part of the Innotour promotion programme.
