Nominated for the Swiss Tourism Award MILESTONE EXCELLENCE IN TOURISM 2021

What great news, our start-up Parkn'Sleep is among the nominees for the Milestone Excellence in Tourism 2021. The award ceremony will take place on November 16, 2021 in the Kursaal Bern.

The jury explains

The young company has cleverly solved a current problem with great growth potential. The guest benefits from legal, verified sites; the provider can manage the flow of visitors and receives fair compensation for the site. The app is easy to use and has spread quickly in the community.

From the Report of the HTR

The jury nominated seven projects in the "Innovation" category and three in the "Young talent" category. Five candidates come from German-speaking Switzerland, two from French-speaking Switzerland and three from Ticino.

This year, for the 22nd time, the Mile-stone Tourism Award is honoring the most successful innovations in Switzerland as a tourist destination. Since it was first held in 2000, 119 Milestones, the prominent granite trophies, have been awarded.

The award ceremony

‍Thewinners of the Milestone 2021 will be announced on Tuesday, November 16, at the Kursaal Bern. In addition to the invited guests, a larger contingent of seats will go on sale to the general public. Sales start on September 29. In addition to "Innovation" and "Young Talent", the Milestone has two further categories: The "Premiere" category, a kind of promotional award, recognizes an innovation that has a lot of development potential. With the "Lifetime achievement" recognition award, the jury honors a personality who has done a great deal for Swiss tourism through their commitment. This year, a special Corona prize will also be awarded for a courageous innovation in times of crisis.

A total of 70 applications were received this year for the main "Innovation" category. The jury nominated seven of them at its meeting in early September at the Beau-Rivage Palace Hotel in Lausanne. The majority of them come from German-speaking Switzerland - with a broad spread from central Switzerland, the canton of Bern and eastern Switzerland. Two projects from the Rigi region made it into this year's selection. This means that Rigi Railways, the oldest mountain railroad in Europe, which is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, has two reasons to celebrate this year. Among the contenders are also a project from French-speaking Switzerland and one from Ticino.

In the "Young talent" category, the second award category in which the jury not only selects winners but also awards nominations, three projects from Latin Switzerland are in the running. Ticino is represented twice. The jury selected these nominees from nine applications.
